Starhill Fashion Week Spring / Summer 2010 Launched
It was a star-studded night of celebrities, fashionistas and socialites at Starhill Gallery with the launch of its first Starhill Fashion Week showcasing the latest Spring/Summer 2010 collections from the fashion capitals of the world.
Among the style icons and most beautiful people in Kuala Lumpur who graced the halls of Starhill Gallery, transforming it into a pageant of glitz and glamour included beauty queens from Deborah Henry and Elaine Daly to Thanuja Ananthan, the reigning Miss Malaysia/World 2009 who walked in with her twin sister.
It was truly a night of warm hugs and cheek-pecking camaraderie among the stars who were all dressed in their designer fineries. Models Stephanie Chai, Aishah Sinclair and Jonathan Putra were in attendance together with personalities like Will Quah, Pamela Chong, Vanessa Chong and the list goes on.
Former top model and now presenter, Bernie Chan drew everyone together with her bubbly nature and humour as Master of Ceremony for the celebration, while DJ Goldfish aka Alvin Teoh proved his turn-tabling skills once again to bring the occasion alive with his magic in music to match.
On this one exclusive night, Shook! restaurant was transformed into an exclusive designer lounge reminiscent of the trendiest celebrity club, featuring food islands of fusion delights combining the art of fine dining with party fare celebrations. A highlight of the occasion was the “Art of Mixology” where three world renowned mixologists – Ben Davidson, Danniel Joel and Per Erik Robin – were flown in specially to Kuala Lumpur by Starhill Gallery to celebrate the Starhill Fashion Week.
In tempo with the music, the Mixologists showcased interactive demonstrations of their art in mixing cocktails in a kaleidoscope of colours throughout the night to the delight and amusement of the guests. Specially to commemorate Starhill Fashion Week, Spring/Summer 2010 – the mixologists also created a one and only Cocktail Menu, available for only one night featuring a choice of 4 unique cocktails – among which include the heavenly “Starhill Fashionistar” with a recipe that is yet undisclosed.
At the moment which everyone was waiting for, the passion for fashion was ignited by catwalks featuring 20 international models showcasing the world’s most desirable fashion labels – up close and personal – throughout Shook! restaurant.
Fresh from the season’s latest collection for men were fashion shows by Givenchy, Porsche Design and Marlboro Classics. From the runways of New York, London, Paris and Milan to Starhill Gallery in Kuala Lumpur included collections by Kenzo, Lanvin, Loewe, Lancel and Lacoste which were beautifully punctuated by parades of local fashion mavericks such as Khoon Hooi, Jendela KL, Melvin Lam and Kwanpen.
The latest buzz in the city’s fashion scene were designer debuts at Starhill Gallery featuring the first standalone boutiques in the country, showcasing the season’s latest fashion statements by McQ, Sergio Rossi and Valentino. M Missoni and Red Valentino will be opening their boutiques in Starhill Gallery soon. The rare and unique opportunity to own the Valentino Rose bag - the must-have “it bag” of the season and the iconic Petale Sling Bag were showcased by the country’s one and only Valentino boutique at Starhill Gallery.
The maître shoemaker of international runways, Sergio Rossi unveiled the label’s “Metamorphosis” collection that is available only in Starhill Gallery. Highlights include the Volto sandal which is a play of cut-outs and a montage of colours and curved shapes that lighten the step, lighter than a breath of air. The Sirena boots, ankle boots & fishnet clutch appear like fishnet stockings, enchanting the leg into its net of black leather, while Sergio Rossi’s iconic Sumo Hobo Bag creates the allure of a bright and sunny day. The late Alexander McQueen was commemorated with his McQ collection that relives the spirit of the unconventional with punk-inspired styles of slim silhouettes, puffy short-sleeved tops, McQ logo printed t-shirts and beautiful detailed jackets in a very classy “rebel” collection.
The freshest debutant in Malaysia, M Missoni added distinctive life and spice to the scene with its bold and vibrant ensembles of romantic little dresses with draping; bolero jackets with color contract flowers, funky harlem pants accessorised with broad belts and handbags which were seen in a kaleidoscope of metallic prints to make a sharp statement. Adding to the murmurs of delight and admiration was also the excitement of special surprise gifts for guests comprising RM1000 certificates, courtesy of Valentino, McQ and Sergio Rossi at Starhill Gallery, Kuala Lumpur.
As the night heated up to its heady momentum, DJ Goldfish hyped it up even more with his award-winning brand of club music in celebration of the Starhill Fashion Week, Spring/Summer 2010 which is no doubt appreciated as an iconic event where the stars come out to shine with style and sophistication.
